Our Story from Then Until Today
1861 to 1888
The Founding of the Villa
The villa was built in 1861 by Heinrich Hodler and Marie Stumm.
1888: Rudolf Wolf acquires the Hodler property for his summer residence and names it “Ottilienruh” after his wife. The estate is expanded to include manicured park paths, arbors, grottoes, and a gondola pond.
Marie Stumm contributed to the community and Ilsenburg through numerous donations, including to the church, thus shaping the overall image of Ilsenburg.
1910
Times of Change
Rudolf Wolf passed away on November 20, 1910, in Magdeburg. The property remained in the possession of his heirs, while being affected by two World Wars and changing times.
With his merger with Maschinenfabrik Buckau AG, he was also a significant figure during the era of industrialization.
1997
Vision Becomes Reality
Andreas Rudolf acquires the estate and undertakes extensive renovation work to restore the villa to a presentable condition. He lived in the villa alone until he passed away far too young in November 2018.
November 1, 2018
Andreas Rudolf
He was initially a merchant before establishing a printing company in Goslar, where he also patented a new printing technique before selling the printing company to Americans. He also owned the Berghotel in Ilsenburg and many other properties in Ilsenburg and Wernigerode. The town of Ilsenburg owes him a great deal. Andreas Rudolf was not only a businessman and hotelier but also a visionary.

The Reopening
After standing vacant for three years, the villa is acquired by the current owners. Following extensive renovation and remodeling, the listed villa is reopened. The official opening takes place on November 11, 2022, accompanied by a festive inauguration ceremony. The villa opens its doors to guests with four newly furnished suites in a self-created design and regains its original name “Villa Ottilienruh.”
